Rocky Mount duo conquer Gaston for March 30 CATT win

Justis Bobbitt and Bob Williams won the March 30 CATT event on Lake Gaston.

Even though there was a lull in bass tournament activity over the Easter weekend, some circuits kept fishermen busy looking for bass rather than Easter eggs.

In some instances, Easter eggs were easier to locate.

Fishermen at the March 30 Carolina Anglers Team Trail T.O.M. CATT event at Lake Gaston experienced a special treat; they got to enjoy sunshine and warm temperatures instead of the cold, wet and windy weather that has plagued tournament competitors throughout most of March.

Justis Bobbitt of Edenton and Bob Williams of Rocky Mount topped the 25-team field with a 5-fish catch of 20.45 pounds, which got them $1,309.

Tommy and Dennis Bradley of Roanoke Rapids made a run at the winners but fell short with 18.46 pounds and shared $640.

The other top teams were: Scott Griffin and Neil Roberson, third, with 16.82 pounds that paid $388; Robbie House and Jeremy Hicks, fourth, with 14.65 pounds that paid $189; and Hubie and Josh Stegall, fifth, with 13.76 pounds that paid $120.

Charlie Gunter of Louisburg and Reggie Norfleet took big-fish honors with a 6.02-pound bass and collected $250.
