Reel Blessed wins Small Boat Division, Back-Lash wins Single Engine Division

The 2015 Southern Kingfish Association’s National Championship, held out of Morehead City, ended today, and Reel Anarchy held onto their day one lead to take the championship in the Open Division. The team lead by a good margin after day one with their 51.94-pound fish, and they added a 40.52-pounder today, giving them an overall weight of 92.46-pounds, which gave them the win by more than 12-pounds.

Team Animal House took second place. They added a 41.75-pound fish today to their 38.67 king from yesterday, finishing with 80.42-pounds. Spiced Rum III took third place with 79.45-pounds by bringing a 45.75-pounder to the scales today, which improved their 33.7-pound king on day one.

In the Small Boat Division, Reel Blessed took 1st place with 70.57-pounds. They made a big jump today with a 42.53-pound fish which they added to yesterday’s 28.04-pounder. Blew By U! took second in the division with 69.39-pounds, and proved to be the most consistent team of the tournament, finishing day one with 34.21-pounds, then adding 35.18-pounds today for a total of 69.39-pounds. Fin-Nagle rounded out the top three with a total of 67.96-pounds. Their 41.78-pounder from day one put them into a strong enough position that their 26.18-pound day two fish — the smallest fish from a top ten team on day two — did not drop them out of the top three, as they finished with 67.96-pounds.

Back-Lash won the Single Engine Division with 93.35-pounds, with a 52.15-pound king from day one and their 38.23-pounder from today, giving them a huge margin of victory over the second place team of Major Bite, whose 28.28-pounder on day two, coupled with their 42.18 from day one gave them a total weight of 70.46-pounds. Anglers Envy finished third with 66.07-pounds after boating a 37.67 on day one, followed by today’s 28.4-pounder.
