Ninety Six High School duo wins two man team division of youth championship

Bailey Cobb and Alex Maddox of Ninety Six High School won the two-man team high school division of the 2016 SCDNR Youth Bass Fishing Championship.

One of the highlights of last weekend’s Palmetto Sportsmen’s Classic was the final weigh-in of the 4th Annual SCDNR Youth Bass Fishing Championship at the S.C. State Fairgrounds. The tournament was held on Lake Murray, and a train of 74 boats made their way to the big stage at the fairgrounds on Saturday to see who would be crowned Youth Bass Fishing Champs.

Bailey Cobb and Alex Maddox of Ninety Six High School won the two man team high school division after bringing 21.2 pounds of bass to the scales. Bryson Glenn and Layton McLean of Dixie High took 2nd place with 21.03 pounds, and Hunter Weber and Jacob Dover of Broome High School finished 3rd with 18.06.

Cobb and Maddox were awarded with two $250 checks apiece. One check was from Berkley Fishing, and the other was from Huk Performance Fishing Gear. The checks are good for scholarships to their choice of college or technical schools.

Other awards were given to the following:

Biggest Fish: Middle School – Manning Felder of Conway Middle School, 7.32-pounder;

High School – Bryson Glenn of Dixie High School, 7.4-pounder.

Two Man Teams, Middle School – 1st: Noah Jones and Manning Felder, Conway Middle, 16.87 pounds; 2nd: Hudson Dix and Thomas Stanton, Greer Middle, 16.85 pounds; 3rd: Jacob Butts and Torry Kelley, Crescent Middle, 13.69 pounds.

Overall School Team Award, Middle School – 1st: Dixie Middle, 26.25 pounds; 2nd: Southside Middle, 18.64 pounds; 3rd: Mid-Carolina, 31.65 pounds. High School – 1st: Dixie High, 36.77 pounds; 2nd: Broome High, 31.92 pounds; 3rd: Mid-Carolina, 31.65 pounds.
