Massey, Gray take home rich payday in Falls of Neuse tournament

Winning team cashes check for more than $19,000

Todd Massey of Chapel Hill and Brandon Gray of Bullock topped a field of 63 teams to win the June 22 Boats Unlimited NC Team Tournament Bass Trail championship at Falls of the Neuse Lake.

Their 5-fish haul of 28.75 pounds paid $10,000, and they received an additional $868 for catching the day’s big fish, a 7.27-pound bass. They also banked $1,133 as the TWT winners, plus $7,000 from the Triton Boats Gold program for more than $19,000 overall.

Dan Glosson of Rougemont and Phillip Eakes of Bahama placed second with 24.66 pounds and shared $1,190. Mike Stephenson of Bahama and Chad Jones of Durham were third with 18.92 pounds for $645.

Rounded out the top 10 was: Ben Cannon of Apex and Ken Wall of Asheboro, fourth with 18.72 pounds for $545; Kenneth and James Phillips of Clayton, fifth with 18.30 pounds for $496; James Williams of Raeford and Bud Fowler of Aberdeen, sixth with 17.40 pounds for $397; Ted Boyette and John Parrish of Kenly, seventh with 16.98 pounds for $347; Jim Nichols and Jeremy Martin of Chapel Hill, eighth with 16.66 pounds for $298; Corey Linton and Mark Peck of Pikeville, ninth with 16.57 pounds or $248; and Stump Bledsoe of Hope Mills and Glen Elliott of Fayetteville, 10th with 16.49 pounds for $248.
