Gryphon boats 413-pound blue marlin on day 3 of Big Rock Tournament

Gryphon brought in the lone blue marlin on day 3 of the 2016 Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament.

15 billfish released on day 3 of Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament

Day 3 of the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament concluded yesterday with a smaller number of fish caught, and just one blue marlin brought to the scales, but it was an exciting day nonetheless, and the tournament continues today with several boats already reporting releases of billfish.

The Gryphon boated a blue marlin late yesterday, and was the only boat to bring a marlin to the dock. It was a good one, weighing 413.2 pounds.

A total of 15 billfish were release on day 3, including seven blue marlin by the following boats: Let It Ride, Gypsy Angler, Whitecaps, Accordingly IV, Coverage, Carolina Time, and Yellowfin.

Six white marlin were released by these boats: Bootlegger, Viking 72, Waste Knot, Sea Striker, Release, and Whitecaps.

Two sailfish were also released by Fishbone and The General.

Fishing continues through Saturday, with boats heading out at 9 a.m. Scales close at 7 p.m. daily, except for Saturday when they close at 6 p.m.
