Team Catastrophic Failures won the 2-day event

Team Catastrophic Failures won the 2023 Santee Big Cat Brawl which was held on the Santee Cooper lakes on March 17-18. The team, made up of anglers Mike Durham, Brad McCall and Vern Reynolds, came out on top of the 110-boat event with a 2-day total weight of 233.55 pounds. This included their biggest fish, a 58.35-pounder.

In second place, Team Evan & Eric, made up of Evan Martin and Eric Morris, had a total weight of 206.7 pounds, including a 53.75-pound fish.

Team Fish Hunter, Kevin Couick, Chase Mindie and Jamey Helms weighed a total of 196.2 pounds, taking third place. They also won the event’s Big Fish Award with a 75.2-pound catfish. They won the Veteran’s Big Fish Award as well with the same fish.

Fourth place went to Team Hooked Reel, with anglers Tim Shultz and Bobby Rammer bringing a total weight of 176.05 pounds to the scales.

Rounding out the Top 5 was Team Cat-I-Whompus. Wesley Bridges, David Kingsmore and Jeff Brinkley caught 174.55 pounds of catfish.

Lindsey Brown of Team Pole Cat won the Ladies Big Fish Award with her 44.05-pound cat. This helped her team to a 26th-place finish with a total weight of 112.35 pounds.

Taking 1st place in the Youth Big Fish Award was Gavin Williams with Team GLW Baits. The youngster’s 43-pound catfish aided his team in placing 19th with a total weight of 120.7 pounds.
