The second round of NorthCarolinaSportsman.com’s monthly Bass Photo Contest voting session is set to run from June 7 to June 9. Winners will be determined by our site users, who will choose from a selection of photos entered during May.
Anyone can take part in the voting! After entries are voted on by site users, the monthly winner will receive a free one-year subsciption to North Carolina Sportsman and a $25 gift coupon to the Outdoor Store good for all manner of Official Sportsman Gear.
The finalists are:
* McKenzie Mills of Pitt County, 7, was on her second-ever fishing trip when she landed a 10.5-pound linker largemouth. The bass was caught in a pond that was supposed to be populated only with bream, so imagine her surprise when the 27.5-inch bass with a 19-inch girth broke the water’s surface. Mike Williams, a friend, was right there beside here to help land the bass.
* Daniel DeForge of Durham County, known as ‘lunkerrama’ on the website forums, set out to do a little fishing in early May, and his 5-year-old son tagged along. They caught three bass in about an hour from their Hobie kayak. DeForge enjoys having his son do some of the paddling, and says that his son is the “perfect trolling motor” and his best fishing buddy.
* Justin Stanley of Randolph County caught his bass on May 19 in a small lake near Siler City. He caught it on a crappie-fishing rod rigged with a Senko after about a 5-minute fight. His father netted the fish for him, and they noticed that part of the tail of the bass was missing. Stanley, known as ‘huntanfish365’ on the website forum, says that perhaps a turtle took a bite out of its tail.
* Gene Johnson of Alamance County, known as ‘outdoorsnc’ on the website forums, caught his bass on May 14. Fishing four hours in the morning at a neighbor’s pond, he caught 18 bass. The one in the photo took a chartreuse spinnerbait at 6:45 a.m. and is his best bass to date from this pond.
Only registered users of NorthCarolinaSportsman.com are eligible to win these contests. Anyone can enter their photos on the contest gallery, but only registered users will be selected by the Sportsman staff to compete in the voting.
