Ashley Lauren boats 621.4-pound blue marlin on day 2 of Big Rock

The Ashley Lauren brought a 621.4-pound blue marlin to the scales on Tuesday, day 2 of the 2016 Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament.

28 total billfish released on day 2 of Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament

Tuesday was day two of the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament out of Morehead City, and it was just as big a day as Monday. Twenty-eight total billfish were released on the day, and like day one, three blue marlin were brought to the scales.

The Ashley Lauren took top honors with a heft blue marlin that weighed 621.4 pounds. Angler Doug Phillips reeled the big fish in while Mark Annis captained the boat.

Zach Prestage reeled in Foul Hooked 525.8-pound blue marlin, with Capt. Ron Prestage at the  helm.

Piracy was the last boat to weigh in a marlin yesterday. They wrapped up the day with a 558.8-pound blue marlin.

Coming into port with blue marlin release flags flying were the following 9 boats: MJoiner, Gamekeeper, Full Choke, Deep Blue, Bank Walker, Stream Weaver, Feet First, Triple “S,” and Reel Quick.

10 white marlin were released on the day, by the following boats: EZ Boy, Mollie Whopper, Sea Toy, Hammer Time, Bluefin, Fixation, Marlin Gull, Reel Quick, and Double B.

A total of nine sailfish were also released, by these boats: Reelin Feelin, El Cazador, Obsession, The Rascal, Marlin Gull, Team Parker, Rameseas (2 sailfish), and Ann Warrick.

The anglers are back at it now for day 3 of the tournament and numerous releases have already been reported. Scales close at 7 p.m. today, and three more days of fishing remain in the 2016 Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament.
