Martha-Ellen Kluttz, 9-years-old of Mount Ulla, NC killed a 7-point buck in Rowan County, NC on Sept. 26, 2026.
She shot the buck, a 7-point which weighed 220 pounds, with a rifle during an evening hunt while sitting in an elevated stand from 40 yards away. She was sitting with her dad, who summed up the hunt with these words:
“Patience paid off once again for Martha-Ellen…She watched a flock of turkeys feed through for what seemed like an hour, followed by a big 6pt stepping out to feed for 20 minutes. Judging off of his alertness and scanning the wood line, she said she thought more deer were fixing to step out… She was right. At 6:15pm a smaller 8pt emerged followed closely by her target buck. She was all business at that point and waited for the right shot angle which took about 5 minutes. Calm and collected, she made a great shot and the rest is history! This is Martha-Ellen’s 5th deer at 9 years old, her 3rd buck, and her largest deer to date! A great late September evening in the whitetail woods of Central NC!”
Kluttz is now entered in our Bag-A-Buck Contest, and is eligible to win our monthly prize pack, which includes a set of Ultimate Eyes & Ears Combo from ShellShock Pro, a YETI Rambler bottle, a prize package from Buck Commander and Duck Commander, and a Carolina Sportsman hat, as well as our Grand Prize, a 2-day hunt for two to Cherokee Run Hunting Lodge in Chesterfield County, SC.
