Norman Smith’s Sampson County gobbler

During North Carolina’s 2024 turkey hunting season, Norman Smith bagged a Sampson County gobbler that weighed 20.3 pounds. The bird had a 10.9-inch beard and sported 1.6-inch long spurs.

“I called him in off the roost on April 22, 2024 at 6:38 a.m., five minutes after fly-down,” said Smith.
