Here’s how to kill big hogs this month
Big hogs can be found in May, gorging themselves on seeds from the tops of the highest weeds in soon-to-be-cut hayfields. I have found this pattern to be hot the last few years as I target newly cut fields.
Landowners often relay finding hog damage while cutting. This information has led to some of my largest hogs being harvested at this time of the year. Freshly cut fields put a lot of food on the ground and big hogs cannot resist the easy meal. The key is to keep checking the field regularly.
I keep circling back to these fields hour after hour or will even sit on some of my biggest-producing fields for several hours because of the harvests they can produce. Big hogs know the food source is there for easy pickings, so hunters can be sure that some nice pigs will show up at some point during the night.
