This is my son Easton. He is 10 years old and has to my knowledge taken the first black bear in NC with an airbow. We are unable to find any other published cases. This is also the first bear ever taken with the Javelin as well.
Easton took this bear last year with Doug Temple in Camden, NC. The bear was treed about 30ft up and we couldn’t get him to turn sideways. I asked Easton if he felt comfortable with a chest shot and he said yes. Easton let one fly and hit the bear just below the heart (see pic). The bear weighed in at 241lbs and is Easton first bear ever. To say he was excited is an under statement. Easton loves to hunt and has also harvested two rams and a 400lb Russian hog.
We will keep you posted as Eastons little brother Carter hopes to harvest his first bear this year as well. Carter is 8.
