I was hunting on the morning on December 15th, and this 11 point buck I had been tracking all yr on my trail cameras came walking out onto a planted food plot with some corn also on the ground at 7:45am. I noticed the day before on the 13th he was out at same stand around 9:15am. The only other time I had seen him out while I was hunting was on the 11th of Decemeber during an evening hunt on some property my family owns in Elizabethtown, in Bladen County, NC. Only to have a few does start to blow and he took off before I was able to get my rifle up and get a shot at him. I wondered if the opportunity would present itself again or not. Luckily the trail cameras showed me his pattern late in the season and I was able to take this buck on the 15th of December with only a couple weeks left in the season. I used a Ruger 30-06, gifted to me by one of my brothers for Christmas a few yrs ago which makes it even more special. My other brother was the one taking the photo for me and helped me clean and dress the buck out properly. Memories I will cherish for a lifetime. Makes it even more special harvesting this buck on my late grandpa’s land which has been kept in the family.
I have included some trail camera photos from throughout the season as well as day it was harvested.
Thanks,
David Melvin
