Can you keep a dead buck’s antlers?

It’s an interesting dilemma

Have you ever found a dead deer in the woods or on the side of the road, and wondered if you could keep it to get it mounted, without having to use one of your hunting tags?

This happened to a friend of 704 Outdoors‘ John MacPherson. He’d found a buck that he knew through trail cam photos had been killed by coyotes. The deer had an interesting set of antlers, and the gentleman wanted to get it mounted. But he knew he couldn’t ride around with an untagged, unreported deer (or deer head) in his truck. He called MacPherson to see if he knew. They reached out to the NCWRC and got the scoop. They give us the lowdown in this video.
