Wayne County buck green-scored 138+ inches
I had never seen the deer in person before. I had 2 game camera photos of him all season, at 10 pm and 4 am, photos were about a month apart. I had been hunting another farm after a different buck and hadn’t hunted this farm much at all this year. The river came up and flooded where I had been hunting heavy and forced me to this farm. I figured I’d shoot a doe maybe, that was all I expected this late in the season. This dude came out of the woods into a picked bean field at about 60 yards, broadside. Ran about 50 yards with an excellent blood trail. Never ever had this buck in mind but I am mighty thankful for him!
I shot the buck in Wayne County, NC on Dec. 19, 2023 at 5:08 p.m. with a Remington 700 7mm Magnum. The 12-pointer weighed 150 pounds, was aged at 5.5-years-old, and green-scored 138 1/8 inches.
