After watching bucks chase does from day break til about 0745 this buck tried to slip across the trail I was hunting on, grunted at him and he stopped behind a tree (naturally) leaving a small opening behind his shoulder.. about a 75 yard shot… he runs off but was stumbling as he ran. I get down find where he was standing and found a ton of blood… tracked him about 75 yards and saw him get up so I backed out and called a buddy to help me. Waited an hour and started back on the trail… found him about another 100 yards across a swamp in some tall brown grass still alive… finished him of with my 10 mm glock side arm… the fun part,, dragging him out of swamp to the road my truck was on. This was the hardest ive ever worked on recovering a buck… not quite my biggest racked buck but definitely my heaviest… 150+ lb Pender county swamp donkey!!! GOIN ON THE WALL!!
