Brice and his dad went hunting after coming home from school and work on Monday evening. Climbing into the stand around 6pm. Around 6:45 an 8pt buck walked out onto the lane and brice decided to take a shot. The shot was not what brice had hoped and so they sat and waited as a few doe were moving around them. Within 10 minutes, brice looked down the lane through his scope to see a buck, a big buck. His dad grabbed to look into the scope and sure enough, it was a 10pt!
Brice sat up, made the shot and the buck did a high kick and took off! Adrenaline was pumping for Brice and his dad at this point! He called mom crying with excitement!
Dad and Brice roped in his Pa and they went on the hunt to find this deer. Eventually, more friends and family came to help look but it was getting late and they had searched and found several blood trails that led to nothing. Calling it a night, brice just knew he had killed it.
Brice’s dad searched the very next morning, starting at 8am. Covering over 5 miles of woods and brush. Still nothing!
At this point brices dad had to call in reinforcements. A good friend knew of someone with Blood dogs. They came out and within about 30 minutes, they found him about 60 yards from where brice had shot him! Covered in thick briars he laid there unable to be seen!
Brice’s Dad called him by FaceTime when he was picked up from school that afternoon and the smile couldn’t be wiped off of his face! It’s a memory they will never forget, his first 10pt deer!
