Pitt down and Buck Down!

Being a West Virginia native, it was already a great evening with the WVU vs. Pitt Backyard Brawl on in the background. As WVU tied the game late in the 4th and pushed into overtime, a buck stepped out in front of me.

From 20 yards, I took the shot with my Barnett Whitetail STR and a Rage Hypodermic broadhead. The buck was quartering toward me and jumped the string, turning the shot into a neck hit that severed the jugular. He ran less than 20 yards and went down quickly.

This was a day I’ll never forget—WVU beat Pitt, and I harvested my very first buck with a crossbow (and my first ever with archery gear). An incredible moment of excitement, gratitude, and respect for the hunt.
