This particular buck, nicknamed “High Boy”, had been caught on camera the night before making scrapes and rubs. The latest he had been seen on camera during the morning hours this season, was 5:30am. The morning of the 10th, he was last on camera around 1:30am with pieces of branches hanging off of the right side of his antlers. While hunting the morning of the 10th, just before official sunrise, at 7:10am High Boy came out walking across a clear cut following a doe. She lead him 50 yards to the right side of my deer stand, and I was able to get my shot on him. He ran about 15 yards total and fell just feet away from the fire break, making recovery simple and easy.
