Hunter missed same public land buck a year earlier

Maverick Skipper of Fayetteville, NC killed a public land monster buck in Cumberland County, NC on Oct. 3, 2024. It’s a deer that Skipper had quite a history with.

During the 2023 season, Skipper took a  shot at the same buck, but missed. This time around, the big buck showed up exactly one year later, in exactly the same spot. Skipper was true with his aim this time around, and killed this buck with his Traditions muzzleloader while perched in his Ol’ Man tree stand.

The trophy buck has been gross green-scored at 165 2/8 inches.
