I shot this 8-point buck not just for the hunt, but for the meaning behind it. My granddaddy and dad always made hunting something special for me—it’s never just been about the kill, but about the memories, the lessons, and the time spent outdoors. I eat what I kill, and I’m proud to carry on what they taught me. My granddaddy passed away about a year and a half ago, and he played a huge role in my life. He was one of the most outgoing and adventurous men I’ve ever known, and he loved to hunt just like my dad does. Ever since he’s been gone, I’ve been doing my best to make him proud and to live the way he taught me to—strong, respectful, and full of heart. This one’s for him.
