Whopper buck was Erica Rabon Thompkins’ first bow kill

Erica Rabon Thompkins of Conway, S.C. made her first bow kill on Aug. 16 during an afternoon hunt in Horry County. And the deer she killed was a whopper.

The buck weighed 180 pounds and carried a huge rack in full velvet. It’s been estimated at 140 inches.

Thompkins arrowed the buck from 20 yards away. It dropped in its tracks.

Her brother, Chase Parker, said Thompkins was so excited that she doesn’t even realize just how big the buck is.

“She was so shaken up and so excited. And it still hasn’t hit her just how big this buck is. She was so shaken up, she could remember nothing,” he said.
