It had been a light rain most of the day and went hunting that afternoon. Got into stand and it was a light rain, that turned into hard rain a couple of times. Had been chatting back and forth with my middle son thru Snapchat. Was talking about the wind picking up and he said he was gonna come out early cause he forgot his flashlight. Told him I was sitting til I couldn’t see anymore. He had asked if I seen anything yet and as I replied back and told him that I havent seen anything. I looked up after sending message to him and just saw a big dark body of deer walking across the end of food plot. Grabbed my rifle and put it on the body and saw through my scope what I thought was a good 8 pointer at least. Put crosshair on his shoulder and made noise “Mmmmeeeee”. Buck stopped instantly and looked my way, pulled trigger snd he dropped in his tracks. Texted my son “BBD” thinking it was a real good 8 pointer at least but told him he was still kicking around. Waited for my son to grab my truck and come to me at stand I was in. When he got there we walked down to the buck and he pulled his pistol to shot him in neck to finish him off. Then after he was fully dead and I got my hands on him I was astonished by how big his rack actually was and started counting points, there was 14 that are mountable and also had 2 small ones that id say aren’t big enough to count. My son reached up high to high five me and he said I was smiling so big and that nobody/nothing could wipe the smile off of my face, and he was right. This was the biggest deer/buck ive ever killed, or ever seen around here close. He and I made a couple stops on our way to my mom’s to show him off. Got there and weighed him at 181 lbs. This was a buck and a moment I got to share with my middle son that I’ll never forget.
