My girlfriend (Danika Whyde) and I (Hayden Cushman) decided to take a trip down to our land in Bamberg County to sit in the stand instead of going on a date for our soon to be anniversary. We got in the stand around 5:30 on a good cool overcast evening. Within 5 minutes of us sitting in the stand we looked up and saw a good buck stepping out into the field. Danika is shooting a .308 that my grandpa solely gave her to shoot (because she’s his favorite) and this would be her first time ever shooting a deer with that gun. The deer came out around 160-175 yards in an open corn field with an immediate broadside shot. My girlfriend took her time and squeezed on him, dropping him in his tracks for her second ever deer! After a quick 5 minutes of celebration, buck fever, and prayers, Danika looks back up and realizes another buck stepped in the field about 20 yards to the left of the one she just shot. She gives me the go ahead to let me get it on the action as-well! I ended up dropping him in his tracks at 185 yards within 5 minutes of her shooting her buck! We ended up not only having the best date of our life being in the woods with each other, but also harvesting 2 good deer and making a wonderful memory that we can cherish forever. Ultimately, we sat in the stand for a total of maybe 15 minutes and had the best hunt of our lives! I hope this can reach the Bag-a-Buck Contest Winner and wish luck to everyone else. God bless!
