Carter Carraway’s big NC buck!

Attached is a picture of my son Carter(6) and his buck he killed on youth day. We have had the buck on camera all summer with a group of 6-7 other bucks. We walked into the stand in the rain from exiting “Ophelia” around 4:00 that afternoon. At around 4:45 the rain ended and the deer started to enter the lane to feed. We saw several does and small bucks at first. About 6:00 the big bachelor group of bucks came walking down the lane. The big buck was right in the middle and we had to wait several minutes for a clean shot. After what seemed like 10 minutes he finally separated himself from the others. Carter settled in with his .243 and squeezed the trigger and the buck fell in his tracks. This was Carter’s first BIG buck and it took us several minutes to get our composure so we could climb down the stand. Carter could barely mange to pick up the heavy racked 8 pointer! His smile in the picture says it all!
