Brock bags a buck in Cumberland County

Cumberland County

Cumberland County buck weighed 180 pounds

Brock West of Fayetteville, NC killed a 7-point, 180-pound buck in Cumberland County on Oct. 21, 2023 at 6:40 p.m.

West shot the deer with buckshot from a 12-gauge shotgun at about 30 yards. He was hunting from a tree stand in a wooded area. The deer dropped on the spot. It was a deer that had been picked up on his trail cameras, but that he’d never seen in the flesh before this hunt.

“This was my first deer hunt, and I had about 10 minutes left when he appeared out of nowhere. I let him work a little closer and turn broadside, and I got off one shot,” he said. “So, I’ve been deer hunting a total of 2 hours in my life, and got a 7-point, 180-pound buck. My dad says I should stop while I’m ahead!”
