Blake Price’s Chesterfield County buck

Chesterfield County

Chesterfield County buck was a surprise visitor

Blake Price of Monroe, NC was hunting in Chesterfield County, SC on Nov. 12, 2022 when he killed a mainframe 8-point buck. The deer had one kicker, making it a 9-pointer.

Price shot the buck at about 5:23 p.m. with a 38-yard shot from his Browning A-Bolt 270. It was a deer he’d seen only through trail cam photos, and only last season.

“I was watching some other deer and decided to try and grunt them in. When I did, he came running out from the other side of me, downwind. He stopped on the trail I walk in on, and I thought he was a big 6-pointer I have on camera. I shot him, and it wasn’t until I got down and walked up on him that I realized he was much bigger,” he said.
