My first deer I killed was back in 2020. This was my second deer killed but my first time ever in the stand by myself. I have been seeing this deer on camera and I have been hunting hard these last few weeks. I got in the stand at 4:30pm, the wind was down so it was quiet in the woods. Sunset was at 6:40pm, at 6pm I heard a crash through the woods and I saw a doe jump across the corn pile. I’m hunting in a quad stand about 90 yards away from the corn pile with a row straight down, there are small pines on the left and tall pines/ woods to my right. The doe came out of the woods to the right and ran into the small pines. It scared me and I knew that she was being chased by something. I got prepared and looked through the scope and I saw him through the scope coming from behind the corn pile. I took my shot and he dropped right there. I have two kids one 8 years old and one that is 2. I haven’t been hunting since 2020 because life has been busy and the opportunities have been limited. My eight year old goes occasionally with me or his dad. I find my time in the deer stand to reflect on life and enjoy Gods creation. To me, sunsets look better from the deer stand. I thank the Lord I was able to harvest this old fellow!
