BBD Youth Day

Hello my name is Stacy Metz the father of Kolsen Metz. I had the honor of sitting next to my son Kolsen when he harvested an outstanding beast of a buck on 9/27/2025 youth day. After observing this buck throughout the summer, I was anxious for bow season to get here. Strangely this buck had relocated to another area but I knew he was near and heavy on a mineral site I had tucked in near his bedding area. As youth day got close, I asked Kolsen if he wanted to go hunting on youth weekend and his response was yes. I knew he was going to have an opportunity at a buck of a lifetime. We got to our stand around 430 in the afternoon. We had 7 does in the field and the evening was feeling good. Kolsen enjoyed studying the deers behavior which led him to antlers coming through the thick brush. First it was a 4pt then next it was a six point. After the two little bucks entered the field Kolsen says daddy I think I just seen a big buck. Sure enough big boy steps out. You could hear both of us breathing heavy but he took his time setting up. We had to be very careful with a couple of mature does within 25-30yds aways but they had their eyes on the big buck. I told Kolsen to take his time and make a good shot waiting patiently for this buck to turn perfectly. After just a short period Kolsen drops the hammer on the buck of a lifetime dropping him in his tracks with a Thompson Center .308 at 60 yards away. The beast weighed in at 178 lbs and was 17 points.
