I moved away from home in early 2020, so this was my first hunting season back in Moore county, NC (my home county) in roughly five years. Within the first week of Black powder season I was able to harvest a nice 8 point buck & first ever on home land! This hunt is full circle for me because my now new neighbor, (my uncle) , is the owner of the land the buck was harvested on, & he (my uncle Gary) is the main reason I hunt to this day. When I was a young kid he took me religiously, he taught me nearly everything I know involving the woods! He was the first person I called after this shot was made! Always happy for me, from my first deer at 6 yrs old with uncle Gary to now being a grown man myself, we still share the special bond that hunting is about, passing the tradition down & keeping it alive.
