Ashley Dangerfield’s 12-point buck

12-point buck

12-point buck showed up late

Ashley Dangerfield of Walterboro, SC killed a 12-point buck in Colleton County on Sept. 8, 2024 during an evening hunt. She shot the buck with a Savage .17 HMR from about 40 yards away.

She’d seen the buck previously through trail camera photos, but it disappeared for several days prior to the hunt. She was getting ready to head home when the buck showed up.

“I watched a couple of does and a small buck on the corn pile for about 15 minutes. It was getting to where I couldn’t hardly see anymore, and was just about to call it quits when I noticed the other deer getting nervous, and then he stepped out,” she said. “I calmed my nerves enough to get him in the crosshairs and dropped him. Hadn’t had him on camera in 4 days, so I figured something had happened to him, so I was in utter shock. I broke the ice and my 10-year, no-buck streak, and got my personal best all in one evening! I’m truly blessed and beyond thankful he walked out when he did.”
