Aiden Wirtz kills 207-pound buck in Upstate SC

Aiden Wirtz, 11-years-old of Seneca, SC, killed a 7-point, 207-pound buck in Oconee County on Nov. 22, 2023 at 9 a.m. He shot the buck with a Browning 6.5 Creedmoor.

After what his dad describes as “the most intense hunt of the season”, Aiden bagged his best deer to date, he nicknamed earlier in the season, “Hoss”, at about 80-100 yards from his buddy stand he and his dad, Jeremy, share on a property in Oconee County, SC. Using his grandpa’s 6.5 Creedmoor, a perfect heart shot wouldn’t allow Hoss to run far before piling up in the leaves. Hoss became a fitting nickname after weighing in at 207lbs on the scales at Hamilton Deer Processing in Easley, SC. Aiden had been patiently waiting for a shot at this deer all season letting several nice deer walk. After a slight disappointment with a missed opportunity in early November, Aiden has been stalking the trail cameras to see if another big buck opportunity may present itself this season. With rut in full swing, he spotted this big boy chasing does pretty heavy over the past few days with this day being no different. A quick before light siting of him again chasing this morning, made Aiden on high alert. Armed with his gun in hand and scope up, Hoss appeared in his crosshairs around 9am. Getting the green light from dad, Aiden describes the next few moments as, “the best ever”.
