Been after this buck all season and always came up short. Never wanted to show himself in the daylight. But the morning of Dec 14,2024, he surprised me by cruising through my hunting spot in Richmond county, n.c. and gave me the chance I’d been waiting for. With adrenaline pumping through my whole body, I managed to steady a shot with the cross hairs right behind his shoulder and squeeze the trigger on my .308. He ran maybe 35 yards and quickly ran out of steam. Almost perfect shot with a double lung hit. All my prayers were answered and all the countless hours sitting in the stand without seeing anything finally paid off. This 12 point bruiser is definitely a once in a lifetime deer for me.
