10 year old bags first buck

Toby had been a few times this season with his grandfather but had been after me (his dad) for me to take him. There were several reason why we hadn’t been yet, but on this beautiful fall afternoon we were able to sneak away and get in the stand. We arrive at the stand get in and settled and with in 20 minutes we had the first group of does come in. Toby made the decision to wait and keep watching since it was early. A few months later another group of does come to the field, again Toby decided to wait and watch incase a Buck decided to walk in and sure enough by the Grace of God I look over and a Buck walks into the field. Toby sees the Buck and to say he was excited would be understatement, I can’t lie I think I was as excited as his dad for the chance for him. Toby get his rifle gets settled and watched the buck feed until he turned and gave the shot. Toby took a breath and boom, we watch the deer run out of the field and I can see him run just a little way into the woods. We get down and there is no blood anywhere. So I looked back at the video and confirmed he hit the deer, so I walked to the area where I saw deer go into the woods, still no blood. So we walked a few more steps and found blood, we followed 2 more blood spots and I looked up and saw the buck piled up. Toby saw his buck and ran to it. This was a hunt of a life time for me as a dad, and one that I hope he will carry his entire life!
