Lowcountry fishing report – redfish and trout

Lowcountry redfish and trout are feeding heavily

Houston Stewart of Beaufort SC Fishing has been having a field day with lowcountry redfish and speckled trout. And he’s catching loads of them in some of the smallest creeks you’ll ever see. He gets into these skinny backwaters with a kayak, then wades at dead low tide.

On some days, Stewart has had stretches of catching fish on almost every cast for several casts in a row. He’s using Bass Assassin Saltwater Sea Shads in Chicken on a Chain color, along with Berkley Gulp! lures on 1/8-ounce jigheads.

The angler said the trout are hitting quite a bit more aggressively than the redfish. He said if you’re having trouble getting bites, stick with Gulp! and slow down to the point of barely moving your lure.
