Catch a redfish, win $43,000 Sea Hunt boat package

CCA SC tagged and released 60 redfish as part of the 2018 STAR tournament.

One month left for CCA SC STAR tournament

With slightly less than a full month left in CCA South Carolina’s STAR tournament, neither one of the $43,000 grand prizes of a Sea Hunt boat, Yamaha outboard, and Wesco trailer has yet to be claimed. And it’s not too late for anglers to join.

The 2018 STAR tournament began on Memorial Day and ends on Labor Day. CCA South Carolina tagged 60 redfish along the coast of the Palmetto State, and an angler — or two — lucky enough to catch and report a tagged fish will win the Sea Hunt 22BX with the Yamaha 150 on a Wesco aluminum trailer.

Earlier this summer, an angler from Ohio was visiting Murrells Inlet when he caught a 20-inch redfish that was tagged as part of this tournament. Unfortunately for the angler, he wasn’t registered for the STAR tournament. But, fortunately for everyone else, that means both boat packages are still available.

And all up and down the coast, the redfish bite has been hot, and is expected to stay hot well beyond Labor Day. How devastated would you feel to catch one of these tagged fish, but not be registered? How bad would you feel to hear one of your friends caught one, but didn’t know about the STAR because you didn’t tell them about it?

“The fish are tagged and out there,” said Scott Whitaker, CCA SC executive director and STAR tournament director. “We have had four fish from last year’s inaugural year recaptured, but this marks the first fish caught in the current tournament year. We are pulling for someone to catch one of the remaining 59 fish, as we really want to give away both of the prize boats this year. Anglers have until Labor Day weekend to make it happen,”

It only takes a few minutes to register, and you can do it all online. Visit http://ccasouthcarolina.com/star/, register today, and then hit the water. A brand new Sea Hunt is waiting.
