NorthCarolinaSportsman.com welcomes Jeff Huggins, better known as Viperx4 on the site’s forum, as a moderator. Huggins joins the team to help direct the forum and ensure the site continues to grow.

“Jeff has been an integral part of the site as a regular poster, and we’re proud to have him join the team,” NorthCarolinaSportsman.com’s Andy Crawford said.

Huggins is a 49-year-old self-employed home improvements contractor living in Roseboro.

His love for the outdoors began in his native town of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., where he and his father used to enjoy cruising the Florida Everglades on the family airboat to fish and watch wildlife.

As a certified scuba diver, he also has explored the waters from Florida to California and Hawaii. He lived in Northern California for 18 years where he hunted black-tail deer, ring-necked pheasant, dove, ducks and mountain quail. Huggins has fished the rivers and ocean of California for halibut, king salmon and steelhead trout, and has even fished for the “rainbows” of the famous Hat Creek.

Huggins moved back to North Carolina in May 2000, and in the fall of 2003 he bought his first compound bow with which he made his first bow kill. He has been hooked on bow hunting for deer ever since and says it is his biggest outdoor passion. When hunting season is over you can find Huggins fly-fishing for trout and shad, throwing spinner baits for largemouth bass or artificial baits for big redfish at the coast.

Huggins also enjoys getting the youth from his church and community involved in the outdoors, whether it is fishing or hunting.

“Let’s face it: North Carolina is a great place with a large diversity of wildlife from the mountains to the coast,” Huggins said. “Do yourself a favor and take a kid hunting or fishing.”

Huggins is the first of a team of moderators being built to administer the site and continue its reputation for being the best online platform on which to share the love of all things outdoors.

“We’re currently looking for other users to include in this team,” Crawford said. “If you are interested, please shoot me an email and I’d be happy to discuss the opportunities.”
