The N.C. Wildlife Habitat Foundation’s latest project to help rebuild the state’s bobwhite quail population is being boosted by one of the state’s most-famous wildlife artists.
The NCWF is offering limited-edition prints of wildlife artist Duane Raver’s “Winter Roost,” a painting created specifically for the NCWHF. All proceeds will be earmarked for the N.C. Quail Habitat Fund.
Signed and numbered limited-edition prints cost $60. Sixty signed, numbered and remarqued artist proofs are available for $100. Boxes of 12 note cards and envelopes with the “Winter Roost” image also are available for $12.
Executive director Eddie Bridges of Greensboro has created the organization’s Quail Habitat Fund to provide funding to private landowners who are interested in improving quail habitat on their property. In some cases, matching funds may be available to private land owner. Many former Quail Unlimited chapters and individuals with QU ties have joined NCWHF’s Quail Habitat Fund.
“The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission also has included Duane’s painting of the quail covey in winter in its 2013 calendar,” Bridges said. “I have gotten calls from all across the state and the southeast from people wanting to order this print. One individual from Georgia even joined the foundation after ordering a print.”
