The S.C. Natural Resources Board recently accepted a $101,925 donation from the Harry Hampton Memorial Wildlife Fund, providing financial support for numerous projects and activities to aid in the promotion of wildlife education and conservation in South Carolina.

This most recent donation brings the total to $2,362,530 that the Harry Hampton Fund has donated to the S.C. Department of Natural Resources over the years.

“The Harry Hampton Fund and DNR have a long history of partnership in preserving, enhancing and promoting the natural resources of South Carolina,” said William L. (Sam) Hiott, board chairman for the fund. “Hunting, fishing, boating and other outdoor venues DNR is charged with conserving and enforcing are a huge part of South Carolina’s vibrant tourism industry and vital to our economy.”

The Harry Hampton Memorial Wildlife Fund Inc. is a private, non-profit corporation that partners with the SCDNR for the promotion of education, research, management and the administration of game and fish laws, which will benefit conservation of wildlife, marine and other natural resources in South Carolina.

Funds are obtained solely through private donations and special promotional projects, fund-raising events and publications. Although some of the funds are donated to special projects run by the SCDNR, they are not used to replace any department programs already supported by appropriated money.
