Lake Wylie’s Britt Myers sits comfortably in second place after day one of the Huk Performance Fishing Bassmaster Elite at Winyah Bay in Georgetown. Myers brought a 5-fish limit to the scales, weighing in 16-8. Although he is more than 3 pounds behind leader Carl Jocumsen of Australia, Myers feels good about his position.
Christian Cole killed his first turkey on opening youth day in Chatham County. It was a true trophy. The 14-year-old killed a triple-bearded gobbler that weighed a hefty 24 pounds, and had sharp, shiny spurs that measured 1 3/8 inches.
Lyman’s Marty Robinson is ready for the Huk Performance Fishing Bassmaster Elite event at Winyah Bay, which starts tomorrow, and while he admitted he’s no fortune teller, he said he expects the winning weight to be fairly low in comparison to other venues on the Series’ schedule for 2016.

Christina Watson of Sumter stopped in to the bait store at Pack’s Landing on April 3 to load up on herring for catching catfish in the river, but while it’s not uncommon to catch a striper there instead, Watson caught something she’s never caught there before. She caught something that, well, nobody has ever caught there before, at least according to Stevie Pack, whose family has guided out of Pack’s Landing his whole life and beyond.
