8-point buck

75-yard shot took 8-point buck down

Danielle Swartz had her sights set on an 8-point buck before South Carolina’s 2025 deer hunting season even started. So when it showed up at her Aiken County stand on Aug. 19, she didn’t waste any time killing it.

“I had targeted this buck from early on in the year,” she said. “And when I had the opportunity at him, I took it.”

Swartz shot the buck with a Remington .243 from about 75 yards away. The buck weighed 166 pounds.

When Swartz isn’t hunting deer, she’s helping track them at Country Girls Deer Tracking (803-646-5645), or making European mounts (Sniper’s Mounts: 803-646-5645) to help hunters display their bucks.

Congratulations to Swartz, who is now entered in our Bag-A-Buck Contest, where she has the chance at a monthly prize, as well as our Grand Prize, a 2-day hunt for two at Cherokee Run Hunting Lodge in Chesterfield, SC.
