The workshops are free, require online registration
The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission’s John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center is offering free workshops for people of all ages and skill levels in June. Online registration is required for the workshops, which are open on a first-come, first-served basis.
June 1 – Fish Cooking and Preparation from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Open to ages 16 and older.
June 3 and June 4 – Boater’s Navigational Chart Workshop from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. nightly. Open to ages 12 and older.
June 5 – Family Fishing Workshop from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Open to families with children ages seven and older.
June 10 through June 14 – Summer Fishing Day Camp from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. daily. Open to ages nine through 14.
June 15 – Kayak Fishing Workshop from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Open to ages 14 and older. Students 15 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult.
June 19 – Intro to Fly-Casting Workshop from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Open to ages 12 and older. Students 15 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult.
June 27 – Fly-tying Forum from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Open to ages 10 and older. Students 15 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult.
The John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center is located at 7489 Raeford Road in Fayetteville, across from Lake Rim. Commission staff at the Pechmann Center conducts fishing workshops, events and clinics throughout the year. Most programs are free and open to the public.
