72-acre area is currently a Restricted Firearms Zone

The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission will hold an informational meeting at 7 p.m. on Aug. 22 to discuss a proposal that would redesignate 72 acres of the Bladen Lakes State Forest Game Land from “Restricted Firearms Zone” to an “Archery Zone.” The meeting will be held at the Jones Lake State Park office at 4117 N.C. 242 N. in Elizabethtown.

The Commission will explain the need for the proposed redesignation and will take comments on the proposal, which would affect the area at the intersection of Sweet Home Church and Bladen Lakes School roads. Following the meeting, Commission staff will present the project, along with public comments, to the Wildlife Commissioners for their consideration at a future business meeting.
