Winners weighed their fish on first day of tournament

Chasin’ Tails Outdoors Bait & Tackle in Atlantic Beach announced the winners of their 2019 Cobia Shootout, and the top spot goes to the team of Ryan Mooring and Brandon Barfield. They caught their 69.63-pound cobia on May 1, the very first day of the tournament.

Mooring and Barfield knew they had a good catch, but they thought it would be knocked out of first place. Luckily for them, it stood up, and they pocketed $7378.75 for their victory. That’s a good payday for going fishing!

Greg Marquart and Alex Chandler took second place with a 56.24-pound cobia. They won $2608.50.

Third place went to Brian Edwards and Marshall Edwards. They won $1833 for their 52.92-pound cobia.

Chuck Hansen and Alan Thornton finished in fourth place with a 48.11-pound cobia worth $1304.25.

Mike Ajamian’s 43.08-pound cobia secured the fifth place spot and $775.50 in winnings.

It’s been a great cobia season, and it’s still going strong. Anglers are still catching them up and down the coast of both Carolinas.
