Goose hunters have used a lot of different types of blinds through the years, from cutting limbs for a perimeter to manufactured grass that hides entire boats.
Three different types of blinds are the most popular.
• Laydown blinds. These are flat, plastic tubs that the hunter lays down inside of while waiting on geese. Added concealment comes from local vegetation or debris, making the hunter virtually invisible to birds overhead. When the birds get within range, the hunter sits up and shoots.
• Hay-bale blind. This type of blind, which resembles a round hay bale, has been used by waterfowl hunters for decades. These blinds have a trap door on the top that, when initiated, will fall out of the way, allowing hunters to stand and shoot from the confinement of the blind.
• Local vegetation. Using local or native vegetation is perhaps the most-common and cost-efficient way to conceal goose hunters. All that is needed is a pair of cutting pliers or pruners and some limbs. Cutting the limbs and placing them around the hunter can offer excellent concealment.
