  • I know this is NOT a fishing article, but if you are a Dad with a daughter, I URGE you to show her this article.

Readers: I posted a very inspiring sports article today about a young girl from Plant City, Florida who had her little league coach, 1979 Major League Baseball All-Star Joe Niekro (who was known as the “Knuckle Ball King”) how to throw the near impossible to hit knuckle ball. She is now a starting pitcher for her Plant City High School class 7A baseball team. She is Chelsea Baker and is called the “Knuckle Ball Princess”. Many high school baseball coaches believe she may be the best pitcher in prep baseball in the Country.

Every father who has a daughter who shows an interest in sports and softball or baseball should show this article and video to his daughter……..it is a very inspiring story.

Readers: This is to give you a \'HEADS UP\' on President Obama\'s Nominee for Surgeon General. He has nominated a doctor who not only DOES NOT have the experience for this job, but, he openly OPPOSED THE 2ND AMENDMENT, even proposing TOTAL CONFISCATION of ALL GUNS in America. I encourage you to read this article on this doctor:

It is IMPORTANT that you e-mail our Senators IMMEDIATELY as I understand the Senate may vote on this nominee either on Wednesday or Thursday!

I URGE YOU to e-mail Louisiana U.S. Senators Vitter and Landrieu and URGE them to VOTE AGAINST this nominee for surgeon general. This is OBVIOUSLY a political ideology appointment by Obama to hopefully bolster his base for new gun control. Here\'s how to contact Senators Vitter and Landrieu:

In the event gun owners have not kept abreast of some of the gun control activities in several States in the past few years, I posted a VERY IMPORTANT article on my website today titled 'SURRENDER YOUR FIREARMS,” CONNECTICUT TELLS UNREGISTERED GUN OWNERS'. Connecticut pass new, very stringent gun laws in late 2013 which required gun owners to register ALL semi-automatic rifles and magazines which hold greater than 10 rounds by Dec 31, 2013. It is estimated that 75% or more (20,000 or more) gun owners DID NOT register their guns in OPEN DEFIANCE of the law. Now, the State is threatening to forcibly surrender their guns or they will be confiscated! This could turn out to be VERY SERIOUS, as if their State Police try to forcibly confiscate their guns, there will no doubt be bloodshed, which could trigger a second Civil War! Gun owners from many other States have pledged their support to Connecticut gun owners. It is estimated that over 2 million Americans own guns, the largest 'army' in the world!

We continue to hear the question 'What is that white thing in my speckled trout filet' over and over. Most experienced fishermen know that this 'Spaghetti worm' is, but to help some lesser experienced fishermen, today, I posted an article from the LSU Sea Grant Program which gives a very good explanation what this parasite really is, it's origin and answers the question 'Is it harmful to humans'?

Readers: On Wednesday, June 19th, I'll post a great article on my website by the Bloomberg Business News titled 'GULF OF MEXICO’S EXTINCTION BY ETHANOL'. I've been waiting for a reliable study and report on the growing number of acres of land being cleared in the midwest to grow more and more corn and the impact of the millions of additional tons of fertilizer being used to grow larger and larger corn crops to feed the ethanol gasoline industry and the impact this will have on the existing Gulf of Mexico's 'Red Algae' bloom (dead zone) in the Gulf. This article should be of GREAT INTEREST to all commercial and recreational fishermen and the entire Gulf Coast seafood industries that depend on the Gulf of Mexico as it's source of seafood.

Many of you by now have surely heard of the 1.6+ Billion rounds of ammunition that the Department of Homeland Security is purchasing. But, there is MUCH, MUCH more than this that is going on that you may not be aware of. I have accumulated over two dozen articles from many different sources involving Homeland Security’s actions, and I have to tell you “ITS VERY SCARY”. I think you will be SHOCKED after reading these articles.

I took a poll on my website over a month ago and kept the poll up for 6 weeks. I asked “Would you be interested in reading a series of articles on our website regarding “Is our Government planning for a war against it’s own citizens?” I gave the following voting options: YES, NO and YES, but on a separate page. There were over 75 readers who voted. Each voter could vote ONLY once so as not to “skew” the poll.

The results was a whopping 92% YES! But, since there were 6 NOs and 7 Yes, but on a separate page, we created a new website page titled “What's DHS Up To?” so readers don’t have to read these on the “Home Page” if you don’t care to read them.

I will begin posting these articles on MONDAY, JUNE 3rd. They will all be posted on the new “What's DHS Up To?” page. Read the articles on our website: http://www.PeteLandrysRealGas.com if you are interested in what is going on with Homeland Security.

    Feedback would be appreciated.

BREAKING NEWS: I will have to apologize and “eat crow” about the D.O.E. article I posted on the website late last Thursday night. The day after I posted the article, I received an e-mail from a Mr. Mark S. Morgan, Regulatory Counsel for the Petroleum Marketers Association of America regarding this article. He points that the D.O.E. mandate is in fact correct, BUT, it applies only to the Phillipines! I had to carefully re-read the article again before it was clear to me. Here’s what Mr. Morgan said in his e-mail:

“Yes. The reason it sounds so much like the United States is that the Philippines adopted our Constitution verbatim and has the same government institutions as we do – many with the same name. The US Department of Energy does not have the authority to make such changes. Instead, that authority belongs to the U.S. EPA Office of Transportation and Air Quality, and they have no such plans. Believe me, if the EPA was attempting to do away with straight gasoline and lower octanes I would have hear about it and be working against it. As would the other petroleum interests here in D.C.”

SO, I’ll “eat my crow” and again apologize for the error! I’ll remove the article from the website! The Phillipines was granted to the U.S. by Spain for $20 million as part of the “1935 Treaty of Paris”. The U.S. granted the Phillipines “Commonwealth” status in 1935. That’s why they adopted the U.S. Constitution as Mr. Morgan indicates.

We’ve been fortunate to have a reasonable supply of ethanol FREE gasoline in many southern States. However, there is a new Department of Energy Policy that claims to be implemented effective on July 1, 2013 that threatens that.

I will post an article on my website on Thursday, May 9, 2013 that explains DOE’s new policy. We need your help in contacting your U.S. Congressmen and Senators to URGE them to get involved and block this new DOE policy. Please read my website on Thursday and call or e-mail your States officials in Washington – I’ll post the links on how to contact your Congressman and Senator on the website post:

Just when most of us thought we had this 'Feinstein Gun Control Bill' blocked, here comes Senate Leader Harry Reid with an 'EVEN WORSE' bill, which will lead to 'universal gun registration' and open the door to 'gun confiscation'. We ALL need to IMMEDIATELY send and e-mail and call our U.S. State Senator and URGE them NOT TO VOTE FOR Harry Reid's Senate Bill # S 649! If we don't let them hear from us, we may be 'sunk'! Read this article from the group 'Gun Owners of America' below. At the bottom this article, I give you links to e-mail your State's U.S. Senator.

    'Pete'
    ----------------------------

    Gun Gun Owners of America

Sen. Reid Beefs up “Base Bill” to Destroy Gun Ownership 'Unholy alliances' could become a concern. We now know a lot more about what's going to happen with gun control legislation than we did a few days ago. First, the number of the bill we are fighting is S. 649. Harry Reid introduced it on Thursday and brought it directly onto the Senate calendar. This means the bill can now come up at any time — probably soon after the Easter recess is over. Second, the bill is a lot worse than even we anticipated. We expected it to contain the Veterans Gun Ban, which would mean that you would sell, gift, or raffle a gun in America at the risk of a 15-year prison sentence because of something you didn't know about the veteran/buyer. But, surprisingly to us, the Far Left has convinced Reid to include the original Schumer version of the Universal Registry Bill. This would ban private sales of firearms, unless purchasers first get the permission from the government. If Senators can pass this de facto registration bill, they will be well on the way to confiscation (see, for example, Governor Andrew Cuomo in New York, who has a gun owner registry and has called for gun confiscation). If this bill is passed, Senators will claim that they 'broke the back' of gun owners in America. Third, there is still every evidence that Reid will move to proceed to the bill under 'regular order,' which means he will need 60 votes to advance to the 'gun control buffet. GOA has been talking and making our case with a host of Senate Republicans, and we would hope that everyone in the Senate understands the importance of stopping the 'motion to proceed' to Reid's gun control legislation. Fourth, as we predicted, anti-gun zealots have begun to use the 'ObamaCare Paradigm' to threaten, bribe, and coerce senators into submission on the most far-reaching aspects of gun control, including Feinstein's proposal to ban shotguns, rifles and handguns that millions of Americans legally own. So if the 'motion to proceed' to S. 649 is adopted with 60 votes, then Feinstein's ban could be passed in the Senate with only 50 votes (plus Biden). Click here for a more technical explanation as to how this would occur. Already, articles are being published to intimidate any Democratic Senator who votes against any gun control and threatening them with the prospect of facing an anti-gun primary challenger — just like we saw on ObamaCare. Fifth, there may be unholy alliances at work which could succeed in achieving a dangerous gun control compromise. One Capitol Hill newspaper is now reporting that 'Sen. Joe Manchin and the National Rifle Association are quietly engaged in private talks on a proposal to broaden background checks on purchasers of firearms.' We hope this is not true, however you should be aware of this report and use whatever contacts you have to prevent this from happening. Be assured, you can rely on Gun Owners of America to never engage in any compromises!

ACTION: The strategy remains: We need to defeat this bill by filibustering and voting down the 'motion to proceed' to S. 649. Please contact your senators and distribute this alert far and wide. Click here to send your Senators a prewritten email. Show up at their offices with a delegation during the congressional recess. Rally and conduct demonstrations and call-a-thons and writing campaigns. Know that the anti-gun Left will be doing the same.

A comment titled: YOU'RE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT! in response to a report titled: 'E15' Ethanol Gas Week on Our Website

'Bowhunter', you're ABSOLUTELY right! This stuff is VERY BAD for all engines. The only reason motorists don't see serious problems with automobiles is because they use their vehicles daily. Most drivers don't even realize they are getting between 8 - 12% LOWER gas mileage from ethanol gas compared to 'real gas'. Ethanol gas have a VERY POOR shelf life. That's why when people take out their lawnmowers and other garden tools in the spring, they won't start! That's the same reason why marine engines have so much problems with 'corn gas' also. BUT, it's going to get MUCH WORSE if this 15% ethanol catches on and displaces 10% ethanol. The ONLY vehicles this stuff can be used in are vehicles that have the 'FLEX' symbol on the back of the vehicle. You and I, the taxpayers paid the auto companies $billions to re-design these vehicles to tolerate this higher content ethanol gas.

Read my article on our website today which I posted on '15% Ethanol Week' and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Hi South Carolina Sportsman readers. I see over 100 readers of South Carolina Sportsman have read my website's post to date. I'd really appreciate some feedback on what you think about PeteLandrysRealGas.com website.

I'm open to any suggestions and recommendations on how we can improve the site. We have strived in the re-design of the website to try to address all the issues we thought fishermen, boaters and hunters might like to know about. We've even added two new pages: Ethanol Regulations and Retailer Q&A.

If you have any suggestions on how we might further improve the website, or any feedback at all, please e-mail me at

    Thanks,
