First Carolina buck bagged last weekend in Santee, SC. 189lb partially velvet bruiser taken on a friend's farm.
Borrowed a friend's rifle the evening before as I had just driven up from South Florida (where I live) and we didn't have time to zero in my .308. This guy walked out the first night and I let one fly, only to watch the buck turn around and walk right back into the hedgerow. Missed completely. Zeroed both rifles the next morning to find the one I borrowed wasn't even on paper at 100 yds. 30 minutes before dark the next night, this buck walked right back out no more than 10 yards from where I missed the night before. Took a breath and ran a round of .308 right through his shoulder. He toppled over and dropped dead in his tracks. Blessed to get the opportunity to harvest such a beautiful, thick early season buck. Has a cool crab claw on his right main beam.
Harvested 8/26/17 around 7:45pm.
