Well, she has done it again. Paige Clayton of Mooresville, NC bagged this 20 inch 8pt in Montgomery County the first week of gun season in Central NC. Paige has entered a buck and won once before in 2015. She was hunting in a ladder stand when this buck showed up around 4:30 in the evening. He was acting sort of spooky and left her lane only to return back within a couple of minutes. She made a perfect heart shot and the buck only ran about 40 yards before expiring.

Bagged this 8 pt at 4:30 in the evening on November 12
I had a doe and little one come out to the feeder about 75 yards and then a spike and 6 pt came out about 40 yards in front of me and another doe about 50 yards. The 8 pt came out slowly to the corn about 110 yards got spooked and went back in the woods but I could still see his tail. He slowly came back out again so I took the shot. My fiancé, Johnny Carpenter, hunts another stand and he said he heard the shot hit. Minimal blood, hard to trail, perfect shot, ran about 40 yards.
My fiance got me into hunting about 5 years ago. We didn't have much land so I've patiently been waiting to see my first big buck. We picked up a nice track of land this year so my chances improved greatly. I bagged this buck around noon on November 28. The full moon was in play so we decided to hunt late morning. Our stands are about 700 yards apart and no sooner than he got seated a big buck passed through his lane heading my way. He texted me a heads up. About 15 minutes later I got a glimpse of him in the thicket and then he was gone. I thought he had laid down. Another 30 minutes passed and I saw movement coming to my corn and he stepped out. Clean shot - he ran 30 yards - I finally got a nice buck.
