August 15, 2015 Keith Hiers gunned down these two monster bucks in Round O, South Carolina.
The hunt began at 8 o'clock a.m. when my brother-in-law and I make it out to the two man stand I set up in my backyard. We have been sitting quietly for some time when he suddenly bolts out of the tree stand; a spider was dangling just by his head. He has barely made it out of the woods. Then it happens, two huge bucks exit the woods into a small clearing. I aim and fire, hitting both bucks easily. They take off running, only to hit the ground shortly afterward. The second buck is a fighter, and it takes a second shot to drop him. I make my way to their location, unable to believe my eyes. Back at the house, I retrieve my truck and a camera as proof: two massive bucks still in full velvet. It isn't until I arrived at the processor's that I can get accurate measurements. The first buck was 15 points/265lbs while the second buck was 8 points/210lbs. In a joking tone, the processor asked 'Are you sure you killed them deer here? They don't get that big in this area.' I still can't believe it myself. A once in a lifetime kind of a hunt.
