  • Twin 19 Pounders make things interesting for the May MSC/DNR Open

    Midlands Striper Club held its monthly Lake Murray tournament in conjunction with the DNR Open Tournament out of Dreher Island on May 16, 2015. 30 teams participated in the event bringing a total of 52 striped bass to the scales weighing a total of 377 pounds with a 7.25 pound average. It was a great turnout for the May tournament and 28 teams were able to bring a full two fish creel to the scales.

    Finishing in first place with a total weight of 27.27 pounds was Team Reel Flyers captained by Dan Screws from West Columbia, SC along with Nelson Meer from Chapin, SC, and David Screws from Charleston, SC. Reel Flyers made things interesting by bringing a big fish of 19.31 pounds to the scales, but it was just .01 pounds shy of taking Big Fish for the tournament.

    Finishing in second place with a total weight of 25.56 pounds and winning the Big Fish Award with 19.32 pound Striper was Team Gizz-R-Done captained by Keith Morse along with Keven Morse, both from Prosperity, SC.

    Finishing in third place with a total weight of 20.98 pounds was Team Hard of Herring captained by Riff Browning, from Lexington, SC along with Mike Browning, from Cayce, SC.

    Finishing in eleventh place with a total weight of 14.26 pounds was Team Cassell Brothers.

    Finishing in eighteenth place with a total weight of 12.32 pounds was Team Even Kreel.

    The Lady Angler awards went to Liz Sineath and Erika Sineath from Lexington, SC fishing with Team Stone Age.

    The Youth Angler award went to RJ Sineath from Lexington, SC fishing with Team Stone Age.

    Smallest creel went to Team Gonna Fish with a total weight of 4.24 pounds

    Team Wildman does it again in the April Tournament

    Midlands Striper Club held its monthly Lake Murray tournament out of Acapulco USA on April 18, 2015. 32 teams participated in the event bringing a total of 60 striped bass to the scales weighing a total of 431.04 pounds with a 7.18 pound average. It was a great turnout for the March tournament and 28 teams were able to bring a full two fish creel to the scales.

    Finishing in first place with a total weight of 24.43 pounds and winning the Big Fish Award with 19.51 pound Striper was Team Wildman captained by Donnie Christopher from Rock Hill, SC along with Justin Christopher from Rock Hill, SC, and Danny Young from Sumter, SC.

    Finishing in second place with a total weight of 20.46 pounds was Team Shipwreck captained by Danny Kimble along with Lenny Mull, both from Clover, SC.

    Finishing in third place with a total weight of 18.04 pounds was Team Gizz-R-Done captained by Keith Morse along with Thomas Adams, and Hunter Gibson, all from Prosperity, SC.

    Finishing in eleventh place with a total weight of 14.74 pounds was Team Even Creel.

    Finishing in eighteenth place with a total weight of 13.51 pounds was Team Fish Sticks.

    The Lady Angler award went to Liz Sineath from Lexington, SC fishing with Team Stone Age.

    The Youth Angler award went to Justin Padgett from Ward, SC fishing with Team Cat Chin Any.

    Smallest creel went to Team Reel Kaos with a total weight of 4.46 pounds
